Uralchem-Uralkaliy Group supplied 20,000 tons of complex fertilizers to the Republic of Malawi as a charitable donation. The official handover ceremony was held in the suburbs of the capital Lilongwe. The shipment to the southeast African country was made in close cooperation with the UN World Food Program, which chartered a ship to take the fertilizer by sea from the Netherlands to Mozambique, from where it was transported to Malawi by land.

For the group, this is the first humanitarian shipment to Africa from European Union territory. It is part of Uralchem-Uralkali's previously announced intention to donate some 300,000 tons of fertilizer to developing countries. The initiative is aimed at fighting the global food crisis and is being implemented in accordance with the UN Sustainable Development Goal 2: "End hunger, achieve food security and improved nutrition and promote sustainable agriculture.

Dmitry Konyaev, General Director of Uralchem: Fertilizers are a key element of food security, and we are convinced that unhindered access to food is the right of every person. The unprecedented hunger that is currently observed in many parts of the world can only be eliminated by urgent joint efforts at all levels. As one of the world's largest producers and exporters of mineral fertilizers, we are fully aware of our special role and responsibility in ensuring global food security.
